Seville, Spain- October 2026: A journey through history, beauty, and culture
Seville, Spain, has something truly magical about it. From its narrow cobblestone streets and colorful buildings to its magnificent architecture and rich history, Seville captures your heart from the moment you arrive. Wandering through its charming neighborhoods, I found myself surrounded by centuries of history, beautiful plazas, and the unmistakable spirit of Andalusia. Whether I was admiring the breathtaking beauty of the Plaza de España, exploring the historic streets of Santa Cruz, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee at a small outdoor café, Seville reminded me that the most memorable travel experiences are often found in the simplest moments.
What made Seville so special to me was not just the remarkable sights, but the feeling of being immersed in a culture where life seems to move at a different pace. The sounds of flamenco, the aroma of delicious Spanish cuisine, and the city's warm atmosphere made every moment feel like part of a larger story. As someone who loves traveling, discovering new places, and capturing memories through photography, I found Seville offered endless opportunities to appreciate the world's beauty. I will remember it not only for what I saw, but for how it made me feel. Seville is more than a destination; it is an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

Welcome to Seville
After a short layover in Paris, we finally landed in Seville. The flight was about two and a half hours. I fell asleep most of the way because we left Los Angeles pretty early and didn't sleep much on the flight to Paris.
The Journey Begins
For me, traveling has always been about more than just visiting new places. It is about the excitement of stepping into the unknown, wandering unfamiliar streets, experiencing different cultures, and finding beauty in the little things along the way. I love arriving somewhere new, camera in hand, not knowing what adventures or unexpected moments await. Whether it's sitting in a small café in Spain, getting lost in a historic city, or simply watching everyday life unfold around me, I find something special in every journey. As I get older, I've come to appreciate that life isn't just about where we've been, but about the memories we've made, the people we've encountered, and the stories we carry with us. Through my travels and photography, I hope to capture a little piece of the world and share the experiences that make life such a wonderful adventure.
There was something about Seville that captured my heart from the moment I began wandering through its narrow, winding streets. I loved getting lost in the little alleyways, never quite knowing what I would discover around the next corner. Sometimes I found a beautiful old building with colorful tiles and intricate iron balconies; other times, a quiet courtyard filled with flowers or a small café tucked away from the crowds. The architecture was breathtaking, blending Moorish influences, centuries-old churches, and beautiful Spanish traditions.

Wandering Through Centuries of Beauty
Spain is a country rich in history, culture, and timeless beauty, shaped by centuries of Roman, Visigothic, Moorish, and Christian influences. From magnificent cathedrals and ancient castles to breathtaking palaces and charming cobblestone streets, Spain's past is woven into every corner of its landscape. Its remarkable architecture, artistic traditions, and cultural heritage tell stories of conquest, transformation, and resilience. Walking through Spain is more than simply visiting a beautiful country; it is a journey through centuries of history that continue to shape its identity today.
Day 1: October 9, 2026
The Royal Alcazar of Seville
The Royal Alcázar of Seville is one of Spain’s most magnificent historical treasures, with origins dating back to 913 AD, when Muslim rulers established a fortified palace. Following the Christian conquest of Seville in 1248, the Alcázar became a royal residence. During the 14th century, King Pedro I transformed much of the palace, incorporating the exquisite Mudéjar architectural style, which blends Islamic artistry with Christian influences. Over the centuries, successive monarchs expanded its grand halls, intricate courtyards, and breathtaking gardens.
The Cathedral of Seville
The Cathedral of Seville, officially known as the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, is a magnificent symbol of Spain's religious and cultural history. Christians began construction in the early 15th century on the site of a 12th-century Muslim mosque, after they reconquered Seville in 1248. Today, it stands as the world's largest Gothic cathedral, celebrated for its soaring ceilings, intricate stonework, magnificent altarpiece, and the tomb of Christopher Columbus.
La Giralda
Standing proudly above Seville's rooftops, La Giralda is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks and a remarkable symbol of its rich cultural history. Originally built between 1184 and 1198 as the minaret of the Great Mosque during Moorish rule, the tower became Seville Cathedral's bell tower after the Christian reconquest in 1248. In the 16th century, builders added a magnificent Renaissance bell tower, crowned by a bronze statue known as El Giraldillo, representing the triumph of the Christian faith. Rising about 104 meters above the city, La Giralda beautifully blends Islamic and Christian architecture and stands as a timeless reminder of the many civilizations that shaped Seville.
Flamenco
Flamenco is more than just music and dance; it is the passionate heartbeat of Andalusia, Spain. Rooted in centuries of cultural tradition, flamenco combines powerful singing, intricate guitar melodies, rhythmic handclapping, and expressive dance to tell stories of love, heartbreak, joy, and sorrow. In Seville, flamenco is deeply woven into the city's cultural identity, where every heel stomp, graceful hand movement, and soulful note captures the spirit of Spanish tradition. To experience flamenco is to witness emotion transformed into art—a beautiful expression of the history, passion, and soul of Andalusia.
With that, our first full day comes to an end.
Day 2, October 10, 2026
Another busy day of adventure; we started the day really early to meet our tour group and to get on a bus to travel and visit three historic and beautiful cities,
First stop: Ronda, Spain- a timeless Beauty Above the Clouds
Perched high above the dramatic cliffs of Andalusia, Ronda is one of Spain’s most breathtaking and unforgettable destinations. With its charming cobblestone streets, whitewashed buildings, and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, this historic town feels like something straight out of a fairytale. Its most iconic landmark, the magnificent Puente Nuevo, stretches across the deep El Tajo Gorge, connecting two sides of a city rich in history, culture, and architectural beauty. Walking through Ronda is like stepping back in time, where every narrow street, ancient stone wall, and picturesque viewpoint tells a story of centuries gone by. For me, Ronda's beauty lies not only in its extraordinary scenery but also in the feeling of standing somewhere truly timeless. It reminds us why we travel: to discover the unexpected, embrace the world's beauty, and capture unforgettable moments that stay with us long after the journey ends.
Second Stop: Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain — A Village Beneath the Rocks
Tucked away in the beautiful Andalusian countryside, Setenil de las Bodegas is one of Spain’s most extraordinary and unforgettable villages. Unlike anywhere else, this charming whitewashed town is built directly into the surrounding cliffs, where enormous rock formations serve as natural roofs over homes, cafés, and narrow streets. Walking through its winding passageways feels like stepping into another world, where nature and centuries of history have come together to create something truly remarkable. From the famous Cuevas del Sol to the shaded Cuevas de la Sombra, every corner offers a fascinating glimpse into the ingenuity and traditions of the people who have called this village home. Setenil de las Bodegas is more than a beautiful destination; it reminds us that some of Spain’s greatest treasures lie in the most unexpected places.
“In Setenil de las Bodegas, even the rocks have stories to tell, and every winding street leads to another piece of Spain’s timeless beauty.”
Final Stop of the day: Cordoba, Where history comes alive
Nestled in the heart of Andalusia, Córdoba is a city where centuries of history, culture, and architectural beauty come together in an unforgettable experience. Once the magnificent capital of Islamic Spain, Córdoba is a living testament to the remarkable influences of Roman, Moorish, Jewish, and Christian civilizations. Its crown jewel, the breathtaking Mezquita-Catedral, captivates visitors with its seemingly endless rows of red-and-white arches and extraordinary architectural detail. Wandering through the narrow, cobblestone streets of the historic Jewish Quarter reveals charming whitewashed buildings, colorful flower-filled patios, and hidden courtyards that seem untouched by time. The ancient Roman Bridge stretches gracefully across the Guadalquivir River, offering spectacular views of the city's historic skyline. Córdoba is more than a destination; it is a journey through history, where every winding alleyway, magnificent monument, and quiet plaza has a story waiting to be discovered
Day 3: October 11, 2026
Getting Lost in the Beauty of Seville
Sometimes the greatest adventures are the ones without an itinerary, and spending a day simply wandering through Seville was one of those unforgettable experiences. With no particular destination in mind, I found myself getting lost in a maze of narrow cobblestone streets, discovering hidden plazas, charming cafés, colorful buildings, and centuries-old architecture around every corner. There was something magical about slowing down, enjoying the warm Andalusian sunshine, listening to the sounds of the city, and watching everyday life unfold. Whether it was stopping for a café con leche, admiring the beautiful tiled buildings, or stumbling upon a quiet courtyard filled with flowers, every moment offered something worth appreciating and photographing. Seville reminded me that traveling isn't always about checking famous landmarks off a list. Sometimes, it's about embracing the unexpected, following your curiosity, and allowing a beautiful city to tell its story one street at a time.
Fútbol — More Than Just a Game
In Spain, fútbol is more than just a sport; it is a passion, a tradition, and a way of life deeply woven into the country's culture. From the lively conversations in neighborhood cafés to the thunderous cheers echoing through packed stadiums, the love for the beautiful game is impossible to ignore. In Seville, where the fierce rivalry between Real Betis and Sevilla FC runs deep, fútbol is a matter of pride, loyalty, and identity. Generations of families proudly wear their team's colors, sharing a passion that brings communities together while fueling friendly rivalries. Whether you're watching a match surrounded by passionate fans or simply enjoying the excitement in a local tapas bar, you quickly realize that fútbol is not just about winning or losing. It's about belonging, tradition, and the emotions that unite people from all walks of life. In Spain, fútbol isn't simply played or watched — it's lived.
Real Betis
Every great travel adventure leaves you with something special, and my time in Seville gave me something I never expected — a Spanish fútbol team to call my own. Somewhere between wandering the historic streets, experiencing the vibrant culture, and discovering the incredible passion Spaniards have for the beautiful game, I found myself drawn to Real Betis Balompié. There was something about the green and white, the unwavering loyalty of its supporters, and the club's famous spirit of “¡Viva el Betis manque pierda!” — Long live Betis, even when they lose — that captured my heart. While Seville is home to two fiercely competitive football clubs, Real Betis was the one that won me over. It wasn't about championships or trophies; it was about tradition, community, passion, and a connection to a city I had grown to love. I arrived in Seville as a curious traveler, but I left with a little green and white running through my veins. No matter where my adventures take me next, I'll always have a team to cheer for in Spain. ¡Mucho Betis!
After a beautiful evening immersed in the passion and excitement of Spanish fútbol, we brought the night to a perfect close with fine wine, refreshing sangria, and a delightful assortment of traditional tapas. Surrounded by the warmth and charm of Seville, we savored not only the wonderful flavors of Andalusia but also the simple joy of being present in such a remarkable place. It was one of those unforgettable evenings when good food, beautiful surroundings, and cherished company come together to create memories that linger long after the night has ended. A perfect ending to a truly magical Spanish experience.

Celebrating Love, Life, and 23 Beautiful Years Together ❤️
Some of life's most beautiful moments are not measured by the places we visit or the years that pass, but by the person standing beside us through it all. Celebrating our birthdays together while honoring 23 wonderful years of marriage made this journey even more meaningful. Twenty-three years of love, laughter, adventures, challenges, countless memories, and a lifetime of growing together have brought us to this beautiful chapter of our story. Through every season of life, we have shared dreams, weathered storms, and discovered that the greatest adventure has always been the one we've taken together. As we celebrate another year of life and love, I'm grateful not only for the extraordinary places we've explored, but for the simple blessing of sharing them with the person I love. Here's to the memories we've made, the love that keeps growing, and the many adventures still waiting for us. After 23 years, my favorite place in the world is still wherever we are together.
Until We Meet Again, Spain
As our unforgettable journey through Spain came to an end, I reflected on the incredible beauty, rich history, and cherished moments that made this adventure so extraordinary. From the enchanting streets of Seville and the architectural wonders of Córdoba to the breathtaking landscapes of Ronda, every destination offered a new story, a new discovery, and memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We wandered through centuries of history, savored the remarkable flavors of Spanish cuisine, embraced the passion of fútbol, and experienced the warmth and hospitality of a culture that celebrates life so beautifully. Yet, beyond the magnificent sights and unforgettable experiences, what made this journey truly special was celebrating our birthdays and 23 wonderful years of marriage together. Spain reminded us that the greatest treasures in life are not the places we visit, but the memories we create and the people with whom we share them. As we return home, we carry more than photographs and souvenirs; we carry a little piece of Spain in our hearts, a renewed appreciation for life's beautiful moments, and a deeper love for the adventures we continue to share. This may be the end of our Spanish journey, but it is certainly not the end of our story. Until we meet again, España — gracias por los recuerdos, la belleza y la magia. 🇪🇸❤️
